ExchangeIt! Outlook Plugin:
Version 1.1.0 Release Notes
March 9, 2005
(Festival of Primal Ooze)
NOTE: Though version 1.1.0 of the ExchangeIt! Outlook plugin is
intended to be used in conjunction with the improved ExchangeIt! Server in
Nitix 4.1.1, it is fully compatible with older versions of the ExchangeIt!
Server.
Version 1.1.0-19 includes the following changes since 1.1.0-14 (Beta):
- NEW:
Items with large attachments (over 100 kB by default) are no longer uploaded
to the server during a synchronization. A warning to this effect is
displayed in a pop-up window (and the logs) if an item in a folder undergoing
synchronization contains a large attachment. Note that the pop-up window will
only appear once for each item that is not synchronized.
- FIXED:
Sometimes, when synchronizing, the client would report "Connection to server
failed: Unknown error (code 998)" and the synchronization fails.
- FIXED:
Public folders used by old 1.0.x clients would not be auto-subscribed when
upgrading to 1.1.0.
- FIXED:
Creating a mail folder and then a sub-folder (that is not a mail folder)
would confuse the client into moving both of them to the Deleted Items folder.
- FIXED:
In rare circumstances, disconnecting halfway through a synchronization would
causes items to be deleted.
Version 1.1.0-14 (Beta) includes the following changes since 1.0.5-12:
- NEW:
In an effort to reduce synchronization time, a "subscription" feature has been
introduced that will allow users to "subscribe" to folders that have been
shared (to them) by others. By default, each user will only be subscribed to
their own folders and team folders for teams in which they are a member.
The list of folders to which a user is subscribed may be configured by
clicking the "ExchangeIt! Folders..." button under the "ExchangeIt
Folder" tab.
- NEW:
For debugging purposes, a logging feature has been added (enabled by editing
the Windows registry).
- IMPROVED:
The progress bar is much more accurate in representing the amount of remaining
work to be done during a synchronization.
- IMPROVED:
The ExchangeIt client-server protocol and implementation have been
significantly improved. Changes have resulted in faster, more reliable
synchronizations.
- FIXED:
Deleting a read-only item (from a read-only folder) would trigger a full
synchronization of that folder.
- FIXED:
Some applications, such as Adobe Acrobat and FoxPro, would crash (or simply
do not start at all) if the plugin is installed.
- FIXED:
Outlook would not close down if the plugin was attempting to perform a
synchronization.
- FIXED:
Passwords containing certain characters (such as "@", "&", and "*") were
not properly recognized and stored by the client.
- FIXED:
Switching Outlook profiles (by creating and using multiple .PST files)
would cause multiple "Personal Folders" to be created.
- FIXED:
Sometimes, the client would mistakenly report "Client version is too old".
- FIXED:
During large synchronizations, the client would report that write access to
some folders is denied.
- FIXED:
Deleting the "Junk E-mail" folder would cause the client to move it to the
Trash.
- FIXED: In some circumstances, the installer would report "Couldn't
register exchangeit.dll" and abort the installation.
